Axel Foley and Co return in 2024, forty years since the first Beverly Hills Cop came on the scene and became a legendary piece of 1980’s cinema. 48 Hrs. and Trading Places would launch Eddie Murphy to stardom but Beverly Hills Cop would catapult him to superstardom. From memorable characters like Detective Billy Rosewood, Sgt. John Taggart, Captain Bogomill, Inspector Todd and Serge to memorable lines and moments like “Get the F outta here” and a Banana in a tailpipe to a beloved and iconic piece of theme music, Beverly Hills Cop became an instant classic that along with its second film (let’s not talk about the third) is still being revered to this very day. It’s no big surprise that Murphy would dust off the Axel jacket and bring back his perhaps most iconic character and franchise forty years later to walk down memory lane. Whether you liked it or not watching this fourth entry certainly brought back some serious nostalgia. You know how this goes: I tell you what I liked about the film and what I didn’t like as much. Here’s a review of Beverly Hills Cop Axel F aka Beverly Hills Cop 4. But first… we can’t start this thing without Axel’s iconic theme music to set it off:
